With the introduction of our new color guide, it's time yet again to update all of our instructions with new information and better color recommendations.
You can view the new color guide and the updated documentation on our downloads page.
The updates we've made to each product's instructions are listed below:
The Color Guide
We've expanded the list to include 49 colors, as well as feature each color captured in three different lighting conditions for better user understanding of what each looks like in different conditions. Additionally, we've clarified products to avoid on the list that have a somewhat reflective finish.
All product instruction PDFs
Added pictures of each paint color for easier identification. Changed the title of the "Usage instructions" section to "Stencil Instructions" for easier understanding. Updated all images in the instructions section to feature the adjusted face sheet colors to make everything uniform. Created unique duplicate documents of each pattern instructions in preparation for our vinyl stencil release. Included MYLAR / VINYL to the title of each instruction document for easy identification. Bolded stencil layer numbers in the instructions section so the user pays attention.
Desert Night Camouflage
We expanded the history section to include more information, as well as meet the standards that our other products have set as we've gotten better at writing and researching. Changed Stealth DNC colorway to include the darker Rapco 34052 Lusterless USMC Forest Green.
Soviet KLMK
New pattern! All new information and color recommendations.
East German Strichtarn
Added a small amount of information about pattern reproduction in the history section. Changed recommended colorways; made the brown slightly lighter and the tan slightly darker on the original colorway, changed the entire approach for the green pattern colorway to include a "khaki" drab to match the intermediary color of green and a much darker brown found common in surplus.
Rhodesian Brushstroke
Included additional information for arid brushstroke in the applications settings; replaced the original pattern's recommended brown with the new red primer and the recommended green with a darker green CARC to better represent the original. Changed sand color on both colorways to a Rapco tan CARC; it's nearly identical color-wise, but the Rapco finish is better for quality longevity in our experience.
Vari-Camo
All new color recommendations for each pattern. We found a great document from Crye Precision with exact colors for their Multicam patterns, and we tried to match these with our new list for maximum accuracy. We also expanded the history section to align with our other products.
Finnish M05
Colors replaced with new Rapco offerings for better matching to the originals. You'll especially appreciate the new Camouflage Earth Red color, it's much closer than the previous recommendation.
Vietnam Tiger Stripe
Replaced the color recommendations for each colorway with more drastic brighter options that better reflect the original. Adjusted some language in the history section that was confusing and grammatically incorrect.
WWII Frogskin
New pattern! All new information and color recommendations.
**Fixed issue with colorway naming scheme-- colorways are now M1942 Jungle, M1942 Beach, Duck Hunter Drab, and Duck Hunter Arid.
M81 Woodland
Enhanced color recommendations for each colorway. Better browns and greens thanks to Rapco.
American Digital Camouflage
Updated all of the color recommendations with more accurate colors thanks to the newly tested paints and color guide. UCP fans rejoice, there are better muted bright greens for you to recreate this highly criticized pattern.
Swedish M90
Added information about the M90 snow pattern. Insignificant color changes and minor formatting edits; this set of instructions is nearly identical to the original we published upon release when it comes to the color recommendations.
German Flecktarn
Formatting updates; colors remain the same. No need to fix perfection!
Swiss Alpenflage
Completely changed the colors for TAZ07, finally achieving something a remotely accurate with the new colors. This grey focused desert pattern is bizarre, but now replicable to a much better degree of accuracy. Other minor changes to the other colorways were also adjusted for better accuracy, specifically the light tans in TAZ83 and TAZ90.
That about wraps everything up! We'll be converting these instructions to accommodate for their new vinyl counterparts very soon.
We hope that these updates are meaningful and helpful for your rattlecanning needs; if we made any mistakes, please reach out via our contact page and we'll be happy to issue corrections.
